<p>[QUOTE="Figtree3, post: 577641, member: 33"]I didn't find anything about the 1848 edition, but did find a lengthy review of the 1847 edition published by Tompkins. The review was published in the <i>Universalist Quarterly</i> in 1847:</p><p><br /></p><p><a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=zz0UAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA317&lpg=PA317&dq=%22crown+of+thorns%22+%22chapin%22+miniature&source=bl&ots=aTR6LMmaKN&sig=ACfU3U3C0LEEqXzV7pzELDwmk-hE-sOU_w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjyoaeuudPhAhUQXKwKHVAUAsgQ6AEwDnoECAcQAQ#v=onepage&q=%22crown%20of%20thorns%22%20%22chapin%22%20miniature&f=false" target="_blank" class="externalLink ProxyLink" data-proxy-href="https://books.google.com/books?id=zz0UAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA317&lpg=PA317&dq=%22crown+of+thorns%22+%22chapin%22+miniature&source=bl&ots=aTR6LMmaKN&sig=ACfU3U3C0LEEqXzV7pzELDwmk-hE-sOU_w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjyoaeuudPhAhUQXKwKHVAUAsgQ6AEwDnoECAcQAQ#v=onepage&q=%22crown%20of%20thorns%22%20%22chapin%22%20miniature&f=false" rel="nofollow">https://books.google.com/books?id=zz0UAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA317&lpg=PA317&dq="crown+of+thorns"+"chapin"+miniature&source=bl&ots=aTR6LMmaKN&sig=ACfU3U3C0LEEqXzV7pzELDwmk-hE-sOU_w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjyoaeuudPhAhUQXKwKHVAUAsgQ6AEwDnoECAcQAQ#v=onepage&q="crown of thorns" "chapin" miniature&f=false</a></p><p><br /></p><p>I have not found information about an 1848 edition, but it does appear that the first edition was published in 1847.
