I was wondering if anyone had any photos that had that same type of look.

I don't have any photos but I've certainly seen people wearing that expression.:hilarious:

I would say that look is saying "fear of shame." Afraid of doing anything disrespectful towards God and mankind.

Those are raised eyebrows and looking down her nose at someone IMHO.

She's lookin' classy for the camera - confident, secure, self-possessed - a woman of substance and in control.

Maybe she's raising her eyebrows to the magnitude of being born a mere mortal in the vast endless sea of stars.....

If I may offer a viewpoint on your photo. To me when I initially look at it, seems to have some qualities of an albumen photo. I know this process of photography was mostly in use from the 1850’s into the early 1900’s and usually were mounted on a thicker card backing, because the actual photo paper was fairly thin. And I believe the photos were available in various sizing. I’ve seen different kinds of fade, and colour changes to these, a few of the green-ish tint. I could maybe say this photo is late 1800’s to early 1900. I hope that may offer some direction for you. I know there may be others who will sound-in with great advice for you. ❤️Maven

@Debora Thank You, that’s great! I don’t have a very vast knowledge of the finer details of fashion from the era. I’ve learned something new. ❤️Maven

In Victorian times, it still took time for a camera to take a picture. In order to not have the picture be blurry, people had to hold still for about 20 seconds. Not an easy task.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

I would say “Haughty”, but more probably out of fear......or insecurity.......

I think nothing of this woman's expression. Would you be kind enough to clarify why you think it's worth discussing?

Just out of curiosity, can you take a photo of her in daylight without using a flash? I see some king of jewelry just where the flash is hitting so I can't see it :)
