    hi guys

anyone have an idea what this little silver thing was for (1" by 1")

my first thought was from a bakelite napkin ring type, but unsure

dismissed it a while ago as thought it was something broken (but doesnt appear to be)

think now might look nice repurposed as a ring (maybe soldered on to silver plain type )

hallmarks impossible to make out, or picture

any thoughts appreciated (sorry came out quite dark)

Possible French maker's mark in the diamond shaped lozenge. Holly will tell you it's stamped. I have no clue what it was originally.

It’s odd that it’s asymmetrical on the sides.

The photos aren't in focus,it looks like casting bubble on the monogram and the piece was pierced with a saw.

I believe it's a buckle of some sort?

I reckon that is a walking cane ornament.

    Both great shouts

The different side shapes makes me think buckle of some kind

But the curve fits on a cane almost perfectly

    Absolutely it's a cane buckle :)

All I know is it is clearly mine, with that initial.:playful:

The asymmetry would suggest there is another one.

probably a complete exercise in futility regarding the mark, but heres what it looks like, and I'm forever being told its good to exercise

I see the French boar mark for .800 silver at the top. The lozenge shape is a maker's mark.
