    They look a bit more appropriate in style if they are rotated so appear to hang as so many of those dead game paintings do.

    Thanks! I was referring to a fascinating book on Victorian material culture '"Death in the Dining Room and Other Tales of Victorian Culture" by Kenneth Ames. It explains the whole dead animals strewn about the dining room trend..

    One thing I learned a long time ago - Do not buy pictures of dead things, old men or homely portraits of women.

    There are exceptions of course, but generally ...

    Interesting & yes, the victorians were odd in many ways.
    For the first time in human history, regular folks had leisure time and it is interesting to study how they chose to spend that time.
