I found this at my lock-up today whilst packing pottery away.
I saved it from a clearance because it was unusual.

It looks to me like the same crude manufacture as the Staffordshire dogs I showed last week.

Parrot or Cockatoo with a crest.

Have I got another piece of Staffordshire ?

Hm. I think yours is a bit TOO crude to be as old as the one in that link, if that makes sense? The gilded line is really badly done: gilders were more competent than that. Also, base looks too white to me. Yours is a very high glaze and the paint too bright - can you see how that older one looks almost sponged on? And is much more graduated? My spidey sense thinks it's a later repro, but I don't have it to hand as they say.

Im with bear. It looks newer to me,but then again it may have sat untouched in a dark cupboard for 150 years .

Davey and obb (and others), I love the way Antiquers always returns to its pleasantly loony normalcy after a drama.

I can't remember where it came from , but I put it aside for later investigation as I knew it wasn't run of the mill, it has a small nibble on the crest and some crazing not visible.
Its going in the cabinet with the dogs until proven otherwise.
