Red stone ring marked only with an eagle outside the band - French 18k? (£2!) Stone fluoresces bright under UV, Mary is refusing to switch on to test it

Two gold brooches by the same manufacturer, completely unmarked but similar Google examples are saying 18k. My acid tests agrees above 14 and less than 22 but I’ve run out of 18k acid. I’ve not filed so could be plated. (£4 each)

If that paperweight is solid amber....wheee! I love that opal boomerang. Opals aren't my thing, but that piece is fun.

Yes, and it glows a blue colour so think it’s real. Obviously reconstituted but at £2 a steal!. I haven’t found another except on worthpoint to judge if it has a value but still a lovely thing. It was lined up with some Chinese glass paperweights, I don’t think the seller knew what it was.

I've seen those amber weights. Fairly modern and reconstituted, but that's a steal.

Your dagger is Emirati gold. Signet is probably gold. Reverse carved is lucite.

That brought up some hits! Thankyou. There is one on 1st Dibs for ridiculous money and stating it’s from 1880!!:hilarious:

<snort> They're still made, I saw them in the gold souk in Dubai. If the boat came from the same place, it might be meant to be a creek dhow.

Yes, the boat is the same maker but I can’t find any the same.

How do you know they're the same maker if unmarked? (I'm being dim.)

    I am also dim.
I was thinking about that, but it doesn't look like a lateen sail, which should have a straight yard along the top of the sail, not this curvature.

I beg to differ ladies! Far, far from dim…..
    I just didn’t explain.
They both have exactly the same spring on the hinge.
I’ll post a photo when I get home.

    Here you go.
Apologies for not showing the reverse. Rookie error (again )
The dagger is quite cool as it comes out of the scabbard (not sure if that’s the right terminology scabbard/sheath/cover thingy)

I've found those daggers in silver, or at least nickel, but never gold. Score!
