Picked up this 40cm bowl at a pop up shop for a pound. It is a Whieldon ware bowl by F.Winkle & Co Ltd. The pattern is called Wessex and I have seen it in green on a chamber pot but never in grey. My research has yielded little but I have dated it between 1911 (When they added the Ltd to the name) and 1931 when they closed. I guess it probably came with a jug but this is still a great usable day to day item with no chips or cracks. Would love to know more about it if anyone can offer more info than I have but really I'm just showing off my bargain of the week! :D

It's Winkle Wessex Whieldon Ware? An alliteration riot!

I sort of 'collect' spontaneous tongue twisters. Try saying 'brown blown glass' 5 times fast. :)

But wouldn't you like to find the ewer? (Especially for £1 more.) It's very nice. I've always liked those vermicular patterns... used to doodle them.
