    Boy, I messed that up. Instead of jerry rig, I meant to say jury rig, which is a replacement mast.

    You are so right with Jerry instead of Gerry during WWI! There were many many names used by us'uns to vilify the Germans back then from Jerry, Hun, Kraut, Fritz.... Many were and still are offensive. No telling what names they had for us.
