I purchased this chest at a ReStore in Greensboro, NC. It is a craftsman style chest. It appears to be constructed of white pine. It is a sturdy, heavy piece of furniture.
It was constructed with wood pegs, there are no nails or screws, save the hardware. No hinges or missing hinge sites are present. The single lid is a lift out construction with a very heavy duty latch, the bolt of which is missing. The other half of the top is affixed to the chest with round wooden pegs. There are no markings, save a couple white grease marker markings on the inside of the chest. C64865F4-2DCC-4DB2-97E0-580B75E87487.jpeg
    Dimensions are
    Base:
    H: 28”
    W: 21”
    L: 28”
    Top:
    W: 26.5”
    L: 33”
I have researched this piece extensively and can’t figure out its use. I am a collector of Arts and Crafts furniture. It could be a tall blanket chest or woodbox. It’s just such an unusual squared off shape.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Good quality! One of my dealers who sold high end Chinese furniture told me you never want to purchase Chinese furniture with screws, nails, etc. The best will be constructed with pegs, mortise tenon, etc.
