I’m hopeful that after months of searching I’ve come to the right place to ask for help! I am in possession of an alabaster and marble lamp that has been passed down through my family. It is signed but I haven’t been able to find any information on the signature, which reads (to the best of my ability as it is faint) Romiti, Italy. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't know what I'm seeing, but it does not look like Romiti, to me. "Rom" but after that, I am not sure. I don't know if this helps, but:

Romitto is a valid surname, but I'm kind of reaching on that one.

Maybe try and get a better photo of the signature in natural light (play with the angles to get the best shadows in the grooves). You can also try and dust the signature with something that may show help it show up better if you can't get a good pic with natural light.

Is the "alabaster" glued onto the marble base? Are you sure that's alabaster and not carved marble? Exactly what lights up and how do you change the bulb? :joyful::cat:

When I was searching last night, I saw a number of these that have a bulb in the base that creates a warm glow through the marble.

    Some like this:

Thanks, Sabre, your example looks like alabaster glued to marble! Kind of reminds me of those pink salt lamps!

I wonder if that smooth part where she's sitting lights up... @KellyMicJelly can you please take a pic of it lighted?

6E8AD669-15FE-4A42-A216-3E89B7A395D7.jpeg Unfortunately it doesn’t have a light bulb so I’m not sure what part lights up exactly, but judging from where the bulb should be it looks like the wave is what lights up

It does appear to be glued! Not positive about the alabaster vs carved marble, I’m new to this

The base is marble. I cannot tell for sure, but something about the wave part looks like it's not all made of alabaster. I wonder if the wave part could be a soft soapstone carving? Can you see any mold markings where the wave part was cast in the alabaster material? I do not.

The figurine may be alabaster, does it have a bit of sparkly look to it? Does she appear to be glued onto the wave? She appears to me to be of slightly different material than the wave and the base.
