Mystery Item, perpetual calendar?

There must be another one like it, not by the same maker but of the same ilk.

 

I have my doubts about that....but we'll keep lookin....

 

I'll try unscrewing the brass from the wood later today, I might find a miniature copy of the magna carta behind there

 

Nope I tried to remove the top screw but it won't budge, the metal is too soft to get any kind of leverage, the bottom screw came out, the two steal screws have rusted through leaving only rust powder in the holes, they didn't even snap, just rusted all the way though. I think taking the brass off the wood isn't going to happen.

 

i hadn't considered trench art .......hummm.
