Featured NA or studio? Signature help please

This is another vase in the thrift can't make out the name. And what kind of painting technique is that? About 12 inch tall. Kind of looks like NA? TIA

 

There is a website for identifying studio pottery. This does not look NA to me at all. There might be a vaguely Southwestern theme.

Unlike this piece, traditional Native American pottery was never made from porcelain clay, thrown or trimmed on a potter's wheel, glazed, or fired in a kiln. If any of those key points are present, it's reason to doubt it was Native American-made. This has all five.

Which isn't to say that Native American potters can't make studio pottery. But if so, they usually sign with their tribal identification, and make at least some attempt to reflect their cultural traditions in terms of form, design, patterns, colors, local clay, or firing technique.

In any event, unless one knows for sure that an item was made by an enrolled member or artisan of a recognized U.S. tribe, it cannot be legally sold as Native American under the terms of the federal Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990.
