Native American Indian Crochet rug

Do the Native Indians make crochet rugs etc. ? Is this one or just an older homemaker made one ?

Craft kit grandma-made afghan, looks like. My grandmother used to mail order kits and patterns - horrible acrylic yarn stuff. A Native lady could have made it, but there's no way to be certain.

 

A fair amount, if not all, of the red and black designs appear to have been "cross-stitched."

Definitely not NA. I agree with home-made from a patternbook. And the patterns in the white stripes are cross-stitch.
The patterns could have been inspired by Eastern European designs, Balkans, Greece. Unfortunately a vague 'could be inspired by' is as interesting as it gets. But someone spent many relaxing hours making it for a loved one.

A native american lady could have made this, but if so she was buying stuff from the same catalogs my grandmother did.
