    I can't tell what the material is. It looks like it might be a part of something larger - like the back piece of a bird figurine of some sort. Not anything NA I have seen before. I must say, the photos of a dark object on a shiny black surface are a little difficult to read.

    It looks Indian all right, as in India. I'm betting it's the top off of a bird-shaped box from Kashmir.

    It certainly looks like part of something bigger. If it is Kashmiri, the material is papier maché, so very lightweight.
