Navajo ? silver ? box

Hi all. Picked this up today thinking it might be Navajo,and possibly silver.It had a block of that green clay florist crap in it with a bunch of flowers (what a nightmare that was to get out) But I just FELT it was the real deal . Its 2 1/2 inches high,4 wide,and has "21" scratched into the inside bottom and back .I also think I see initials "AT" but I really cant tell. Any input is always appreciated.

 

looks like navajo silver work....buuuut..it could be south of the border too....

 

Anybody know what that stone is ?

 

it looks like it has bubbles in it so i'll say glass !

 

I must confess,I was so tickled at my $4 find and disappointed in the lack of reaction on here .

Johnny, that's a lovely find !!!
It's got that Southwest Concho look goin on !
It's a nice size & there's lots of work on it !
For 4 bucks....wow......!

but....
from a professional stand point....

I can't say who made it, how old it is, or what the metal is.
There's lots of stamping....but it's rushed and the design is very simple.
The mfg is competent ...but of no high degree.
The stone or glass is muddy....& not quality Turquoise .
The 21 means nothing.....& I see no other makers marks.

Maybe that's why the Raves are slow to pile up !!

 

Johnny, I've come back to this post several times, and I still can't decide exactly what this box is.

I also keep seeing a "7" right here, and I don't know if it's really a "7" - or, if it is, what it might mean:

 

I see what you see...but I'm not seeing it !
Just poor stamping that makes something that looks like something else..
Look at the tips of the rays....some rounded...some pointed ...some hit the edge , some don't ...some go over...some under.....no balance ...rushed.

 

Yeah, I thought that, too! Still, if you enlarge Johnny's first photo, that "7" looks so clear! Oh, well.
