Hello! I came across this basket at an estate sale in New Jersey and was hoping someone might help me learn more about it if there's anything to be known. It looks very beautiful and I'd like to think it has wonderful craftsmanship, but my eyes are as untrained as can be. It appears to have a coiled pattern (8 coils per inch?), with a twine strap on the body of the basket.

Your basket was probably made by a Nubian weaver, from northern Sudan/southern Egypt. Here is a similar one with the label still attached -

The label says "Nubian - Kenya", because there are Nubian refugees who have relocated to Kenya and neighboring countries to escape the conflicts in Sudan.
