My 95 years old aunt says it's gold plated, and it was worth $5000 about 20 years ago.

Any info will be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Welcome!
I'd be 'shocked' to learn that this is actually gold plated but others here are better at this than I.
    Good luck! :)

    Thanks for sharing KofT :)
Who knows, you might be right. After all, at her age her memory and judgement are not as accurate anymore. This is why I thought of asking around.

Sorry to say that it looks to be brass plated with applied patina. I would say 1970s or later and very minimal value........ sorry.

What approximate value would you give it? If I may ask...

Around here the local ReStore (Habitat for Humanity) pretty much has to give those away. They go for $20-30, give or take, but that's the local market.

I concur. I have sold them painted up Shabby Chic style for $80 or so and they are everywhere.

Drpeppercan, in the third (last) photo you posted -- what is the "decoration" going around the rim where the arms are attached? The "motif" does not appear to be the same from one to another.

I can see only one which is complete, but the other two (which are "halves") don't seem to match even each other.

And the one that is complete (in the middle) looks like it has some sort of "marks" at the top just below the "upper" rim in the photo.

Can you tell what those "marks" are? Just curious.;)

    Thank you everyone for sharing.
So I better polish this chandelier and hope to be lucky to sell it for around $100. Or $20 if it comes to that ;)

YTTLI, I'll try to take more/better photos asap.

If you could take off one of the candle sleeves and get a shot of the recepticle. That could possibly help to date it.

Looking at the hardware and fittings, I agree with the others, 70's or later and $20 - $30.

Pretty much confirms my thoughts that this is 70s or later. It appears to be brass with applied patina and lacquer coating. Polishing will remove this applied patina and would be very difficult to accomplish. I wouldn't do anything more than clean it. I seem to see Made in Spain on the stem.

verybrad, you are a keen observant! To see that little "Spain" text on the photo! Even having the thing itself here with me wasn't enough for me to notice it, LOL
I went to the chandelier to see it better and yes! It does say: Spain.
Thanks so much for all the valuable info, and the advise to not polish it.

    Cheers!

No kidding! You bet I have!
Now if she would only accept this.
My telling her about the earlier replies only got her to lower the price to $4000 in the local classifieds! And very reluctantly! LOL
I haven't told her about not being made in Italy, I don't see the point...

    Cheers!
