    Béziers is indeed in France.

Are you sure there are no other marks? French marks are minute. In the second photo, the 2 pieces in the center each have a spot that reflects oddly at about 5 o'clock. Anything there?

The maker's and quality marks on French flatware is normally placed on the business end of the piece (bowl for spoon and below the tines on a fork) and yes they are tiny.

For future reference Photobucket is a PITA - doesn't display the entire image, switches from the image to advertising without clicking on anything, surrounded by random unrelated images filling up the screen. Please don't use it. Uploading your images to Antiquers is not that hard.

Given wear on lining, they do look original to case.

The second photo is the one of the label on the box. What happened to the second picture of the flatware?

Very interesting design to have one type on the face and another on the reverse!

Markers? I think those numbers on the side of the handles may be a design number, but not a maker's mark per se. You need to be looking on the spoon (second from the the left in picture 2) at the spot equivalent to the 5 on a clock face - and you'll need a strong power magnifier or a loupe to see what's there. Look at the same location on the knife blade.

All but the server were intended to be placed with what we'd consider the front, down - your marks will be on that side on the forks and spoon (just below the handle), on the other side on the server. They are barely visible in your pics, but there does seem to be two marks on each, they're most likely silver rather than silverplate marks, but more detail is needed for fineness and maker...

Eh, I think you're right on that piece, Bakersgma - kept trying to decide if it was a server or a butter knife...

Just can't make out the maker's mark, which can be helpful in dating - odd that they placed the marks on that side, probably the required location on the detailed list of where French hallmarks must be placed on specific pieces (so picky)...

Might try placing the knife with the other side up in the case so the handles match - or better, try the forks and spoon with their other sides up, would keep the forks from piercing the lid lining and show off the fancy engraving on the spoon's bowl (the die-stamped side of the handle would be the actual flatware pattern)...

Beziers is lovely. I did a wee trip on the Canal du Midi last year, to the eight stepped locks. Glorious.
