I don't see the signature as being the same & see nothing in your painting that would lead me to think it was painted by the same hand as the pics above..

Agree. Walter Goodall's dates are 1830-1889. He was a Victorian artist. The woman in your water color is wearing 20th century clothing, Edwardian.

You mention both Walter Goodall and John Goodall. I think Walter was addressed already (I think)

I'm finding two John Goodall's. John Edward Goodall 1853-1929, and John Strickland Goodall 1908-1996. I think these are examples of both.

This is the best I can do with the signature on yours, perhaps someone else can do better.

I think I prefer yours to all the other examples

    I REALLY like it

Has a different, less realistic approach

I completely agree with you. I also really dig it. Has a impressionistic feel to me

I very much like it as well. The contrast between the rural setting and the more urban-looking figure. And the way the artist breaks up the figure's reflection so we "read" rain but don't actually see water. Of course, the furled umbrella hints at it too. (Wonder where that is... Switzerland? Perhaps someone will recognize that very distinctive church tower.)

That makes sense. A little low for a church steeple.

I think the signature is bottom left on the painting. It's just blurry.

    I think.

Dunno. They started by asking if it was John Goodall which seemed more likely than Walter. Maybe the street name?

Or maybe it is a sig upload_2023-6-21_16-23-0.png

I read "Walter" as the artist's signature and it's very cleverly written.
