If you remove the blade you might just get lucky and find some marks on the blades tang.:bookworm::bookworm:

    Screenshot_20190425-132738_1556224136902.jpg Hi @Lacey777

It looks like it's just held together with a peg type shim and maybe even fits the original handle. Anyway, that should be easy to loosen...

There is always the chance this is a Hollywood movie prop: a marriage of an old bayonet blade in a recast handle meant to look like something else for the movies . a bunch of years back there were thousands of old Hollywood costumes on fleabay and antique shows.... I think one of the studios cleaned house ... even a couple of years ago in San Jose I picked up a couple of real Philippine American era shoulder bags( converted 1878 ? pattern I think) that had a studio marking..... Lot's of "period" war movies back into the silent era , and they had to "arm" those armies with something , not always wooden swords.....

My mother and I went to (stumbled on) the MGM liquidation around 1970... Mountains of gladiator sandals etc.

I bought a Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farms/Judy Garland cotton flowered dress and blue cotton turtleneck I wore under it. (I was arty, ok?)
