Need help with dating old pottery with seal mark.

Hello all.

We have this old pottery ceramic piece which we want to know more about. It's around the 6 inches / 10cm and was bought in the UK. We think it got some age to it because of the design of the horse and the man etc. It looks all hand done and the back has a mark. We think this mark is made with a seal stamp. This seal mark is unfortunately unreadable. It looks like the actual seal stamp was also hand carved and than used to embossed in the piece.

Not sure what the function was for this piece. Was it a ornament or whas it made to hang up???


Anyone seen similair before or recognise the style?

Hi and WELCOME, Chem!! To me, your piece looks more decorative than anything, and I can't tell the age. Did you wipe that seal gently with a damp sponge to see if it would bring out the markings any?? I have tried Inversing the seal, but it didn't bring much more out.....looks like an 8 is there which you can see anyway, but around the bottom curve looks like it may say something like COEL P?????ending with an E or C.....
Regardless, I love the "tile?"!!!!!
