    I can’t image writing while rocking. BWDIK?

    It looks like the chair they draw blood in.

    Have been out of town so just seeing this. Would think early to mid 20th century. Not common but am fincing some precedence. Think this one is older.

    NEW ENGLAND WRITING ARM ARROWBACK ROCKING CHAIR. (morphyauctions.com)

    Found this one that is of similar age. The way the surface is placed, seems not conducive to writing. No additional information.

    @Lisem
    Did you look under the seat to see if there might be any Maker's Marks?

    Nor can I, has seen 18th-19th century Windsor writing chairs, some have a drawer below the seat but the rocker thingy is odd.
    Perhaps a teacher's rocker for grading papers and the like.

    There are no marks. It’s solid oak and I’d heard it was made for a teacher.

    It is solid oak. There are no screws. It’s joined together by the pieces fitting into holes.
