    Your set is called a Castor set. The metal is probably marked.

    Wait for others to offer helpful information.

    Nice set, Anne and particularly good assuming all the glass pieces are intact and not cracked or chipped. Should be silverplate and marked on the bottom?

    Is the metal disk that holds the glass deformed in some way? Bent?

    Hm. I don't see a maker's name underneath - if there were one there it should be near the 4 digit "item number." But I do see that there is a longer string of letters? and numbers? on the disk - right hand side in your next to last picture. Can we get a closer look at that, please? It may be a design registration - which would make this British.
