Hello, I have a chair that I would like to try to find out how old it is and who might have made it and approx. value. I've had it for about 20 years.

Are there any makers marks on it? I'm noticing the way the seat slats are joined look very much like the way my Stickley tabletop boards are joined. Probably a common way to join them though.

    Called a "Spline" joint.

The only mark I could find was on the underside of the seat and it looks like a zero stamped into the wood.

Where are you located, where did you get the chair?
Guesses quarter sawn oak, 1st quarter 20th century, A&C or Mission style , looks period to me.
Wait for others to post who are more familiar with this style @verybrad

Nice chair! Think this one is likely from across the pond. English? Scottish? Otherwise, Stickley Brothers made some more dainty chairs with cut-outs in the splat. They were also known to use spline joinery. I don't recognize this as one of theirs but I suppose it is possible. There were so many makers of Mission furniture that it may not be possible to easily pin this down.

I am in east Tn. I got the chair from a friend. It was in an old house that was built in the late 1800's to around 1900. I thought I saw some furniture on Antiques roadshow a few years back that had the same cutout in the back, but missed the part where they talked about the maker. Thanks for all the help so far.

Can date this chair to circa 1910.

will be hard to find an exact match. for listing I'd "abuse" the name of Rennie Mackintosh.

You may be thinking of the episode where someone had a Charles Rohlfs chair. It was heavily stylized, and I believe the appraiser had it at over $100 K. Unfortunately, though this is a very nice chair, I don't think it's a Rohlfs original.
