When you turn the wheel, does the center move as well, or do those dividers make a sort-of clacking noise?

Possibly a primitive "alarm", so you know when someone turns the key?

Please show the entire closed box and the key.

A link to a video would be ideal.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

That center wheel makes me think of a small "Roulette Wheel"!! Maybe a traveling game/gambling chest?? Just thinking out loud....can't really see enough of it...........

    Welcome @Danae Azuara .:)
I was thinking along the same lines. Not roulette, but another game.

Thanks! The whole wheel turns, and yes there is a clacking sound. But it would not work as a Roulette Wheel. Spinning requires continued effort. My mom is thinking sewing box, but no idea why it has that spinning wheel inside.

I'm more interested in how those two metal right angle pins fit into the two slots at the bottom of the box...

also the two wood dowels ....must have corresponding holes to slot into
