Yeah, I have to get off the acorn idea. Just a hunch.

Sorry, I think I found a similar form someone already posted. I will go back to my corner now. Again, thanks all for the help. Will try to post side angle shots if I can. Carvings are fairly “simple” is the best way I can put it, or much less detailed.

Don’t go in the corner. A good way to learn is making suggestions and doing research. :)

Thank you, yes, all good! I am much further than where I started, that’s for sure. Trying to figure out an upside down “maker’s mark” for a piece of plywood! Lol!

Will do for sure. I am very into this new hobby of mine. Have learned a bunch this year already. I am in area where people throw away really cool pieces. I love the history and background. Thanks!

LOL, I am engaged! although i liked my chicken house narrative better!
Hey Jamo! Welcome! I think it's a couch in a jacobean revival style, the back is clearly oak, I'd guess 20th century. Wait for others to post as this is out of my field of knowledge, the more pics the better.

Think the one in the picclick link in post #42 is off base. As suggested, this is Jacobean revival and not art deco. Also think that asking price is way off base. Styling suggests 30s-40s on this with those wood wing-backs.

A Brandt Oak Ranch platform sofa looks somewhat similar?

Very much so but a decade or two (or more) later. Brandt made furniture that was not cutting edge fashion for its time. I suppose there is the possibility that your sofa is also a bit later and by one of the other Southwest/CA makers.

Thank you Brad and Joy! I did contact a woman who is in the know with Ranch Oak furniture and she said she unsure of what it was, but definitely NOT Ranch Oak. I thought some of the kind of diagonal type carvings on the side had similarities, though there were other hints that it wasn’t.

Have you carefully looked for a makers mark on the frame? It could be very light.

I have looked pretty good for the makers mark, yes. Will give it another try when I get out to where it’s stored and update

So if I were to sell this, does anyone have a reasonable # in their head. There is no maker’s mark I can find and I can’t after much research really narrow it down any further. Thanks in advance!
