Recently picked this up from the tip and i aint got a single idea as to what it is it is solid brass appears that it was silver plated. Its hollow in the center with five brass ball bearing running in a groove any ideas as to what it is and how old would be much appreciated. 1532171886625-2027773240.jpg 1532171921388-1392295963.jpg

Welcome to the Forum, Timothy! Maybe you can give another close up to show the design on that surface or describe it.

    Welcome, Timothy.

A baby's rattle cum teething ring? Made in an age when they didn't think of health and safety?

Big baby? Twins? Sorry, I don't know.

There are ethnic dance bracelets with little stones or metal balls inside them to rattle during the dance, but those are smaller and different in shape.

Is there any particular kind of wear to the plating?

But this isn't ethnic, it isn't handmade. And 12cm is much too big for a bracelet. The ideal bangle size for me is an inside diameter of 6cm.

There are only a few patches of plating left in some denta and corners.

inh, thanks for asking us, but, sorry, we don't recognize it as any part of any game we've ever seen or heard of. If it's too big to be a bracelet or a teething ring (has "infant's toy" been completely ruled out?), is it loud enough when spun or rattled to qualify as some sort of quasi-musical instrument? (Sorry again, dumb ideas our specialty.)

Hi Timothy and welcome. This is really frustrating as I think I have seen something like this before, but where and when completely escapes me. Can you post some clearer pictures?
