I am assuming this is a oil lamp, there are no markings on it for a name but it seems very detailed. Roughly 12 inches in height. Bottom is iron? And about 4 by 4. Anyone know how old or where this possibly was made and by whom?

He has an expertise in oil lamps and is a collector. I am also interested in them, and have about ten, so when he posts I pay attention. He also comments on other items.

I would guess English, ca. 1890-1910, likely the late 1890s given the modeling of the figure. She looks like Victoria from the back and a royal shepherdess from the front, if that's a "thing."

Difficult to tell who made it without a stamp or label. In the U.S. Midwest Bradley & Hubbard would be a good bet.

Brazos and Iowa Jack are our oil lamp specialists.

Brazos commented on the first thread. Stating it is an unknown to him in his long time experience. That's good enough for me.

I still don't know what that staff is.

These figure stem lamps are almost impossible to pin down to a maker. Glass companies did not do castings and casting companies did not do glass. So, did the glass company buy the stem, or vice versa. It's more likely that a retailer bought from both and assembled the lamp. A retail customer could pick and choose parts, if the made up stock was not what he wanted. The possible combos are infinite.

We have to admire these lamps for what they are and not worry about the maker. My best guess it dates from 1875 to 1890. Of course, if I could guess good, I would have won the lottery.

Sorry, just got back from morning estate sales. It is definitely an oil lamp and may actually be North American, probably New England area. There were a number of glass manufacturers in the mid to late 1800's that did lamps like these. Cape Cod Glass company, New England Glass Company to name a couple. It is a fairly long list. Hope that helps a bit.
