Ok I have no eye for art. I got this oil painting cheap and was wondering if anyone thinks it is worth investigating further. I looks like it is signed just White. It is behind glass and the back is sealed. What do you think of it?

    TIA, Bryan

    Nah. I think it's just a 50s factory painting.

I am almost certain it is oil. You can see the depth of it in the close up

Only time have seen glass over oil is when the painting was purposely hung over a mantle. We had a (valuable) portrait of an ancestor that hung over the fireplace and after the third cleaning the museum recommended glazing it to prevent further damage. Of course MOVING it was NEVER considered..................

I see glass over oils from time to time but it is not common. I think this is a decorative (sofa) painting and think a bit older than the others. Maybe thirties up to the big war.
