My friend found this hat at a cleanout. Someone told him it is an old Boston College baseball hat. What do you think? How old do you think it is? Thanks.

The name on the inside is Gordon Lethbridge (with a couple initials between.) Given the name and the stripes on the hat I think it might have been for cricket.

I don't know, Book. My sister went to BC for grad school, and as I recall, the school colors were maroon & gold. (BU is scarlet & white, but the initials don't match...)

The name of the club is written under the owner's name.

That's a cricketer's hat all right. It's from some place in the Empire, doubtless.

Don't think there's a Birmingham Cricket Club. League yes.

CC means Cricket Club, it looks like Bingage or Birgage to me, it could be anywhere from the British Commonwealth that play cricket, India, Ceylon, Australia, Caribbean, NZ, South Africa........

A cricket cap - now why didn't I think of that!

Here's a close up of the writing - it does look like Birmingham to me but then again, it may be the power of suggestion:

Would a black light make that more legible?
