    hello.
attached are some photos of some books given to a Henry L Palmer. I have been researching the name and it's a name from someone high up in the Freemasons. my family did orginally come from England and we did have past members who were also part of them too.
I have tried to research if the name in the book is the Henry but can't seem to find anything about him possibly going to England at any point. 17393565847002885059987302713167.jpg 17393566090386904773228851379665.jpg 17393567396235947795650779565108.jpg 17393567767375795310312811880226.jpg 17393568454248472393025678267781.jpg 17393569679484831014085433595975.jpg

thank you for that. can't see anything at all that would link the Keir house to possible Freemasons. also doesn't seem to have any information either on the Henry name, I'm thinking more of a coincidence possibly.

There is a Henry L Palmer masonic grand lodge based in the
Masonic hall in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA

Just so I understand... These are books found within your family and you're trying to determine who Henry L. Parker was on your family tree? Unfortunately, that's a fairly common name and any association with a notable Mason with that name is a long shot. Would you tell us in what part of the world the books are and, to your knowledge, how long they've been there?

I read "Brother Charles", which suggest a connection to masonry.

The writer also capitalized "Affect" in addition to "Brother" which could just be a style choice. (And I'm not sure Masons typically use "affectionate" to describe their feelings for each other as family members do.) Still a possibility. And Robert Burns was a Mason. What is the date of the inscription?

Charles T. Gallagher wasn't born until 1851. The Burns volume was published in 1840. Just food for thought...

    hi debora,

there isn't any link to our family tree.

the books are in new Zealand. I think my grandpa or his father was a Freemason and was quite high up in the ranks with them. I am thinking that it is a long shot with the name too. I had researched a fair amount on the Henry L Palmer from America and I had tried to search if he had made travels over to England but I couldn't find anything that would be a possible link to the book.

So no USA connection at all. Then there's really no logical reason to associate these books with Henry L. Palmer of Wisconsin or the Masons (unless one applies "Brother" in that sense.) Much more likely they went directly from the UK to New Zealand. Neither one is rare or (financially) valuable. And as they have no sentimental value, not sure why you'd dedicate more time researching.
