Old celebrity pictures

how much do such things go for. they are James dean sal Mineo Audie murphie and Elvis. I paid 2 bucks for them. Think I did well?

 

what size are they....what if anything is on the reverse..??

 

They are 4 by 6. The reverses are blank.

Thanks for asking us, komokwa, but we really have zero expertise in this area -- we'd strongly suspect, though, that your guess is pretty much correct... promotional giveaways from studios, agents, whatever... or possibly even vending machine items, in their day (circa 1956, we'd think) a nickel apiece or three for a quarter or thereabouts, although those usually sport pre-printed facsimile signatures...

 

I wasn't looking for expertise.....but you've been around the block ...so a valuable opinion was something I thought you could offer........ & ya did !!!

I mean....a photo of Elvis...is not a photo of Cy Young......but it's not a glass vase either !!

 

Yeah - people still buy Elvis.(LOL) For two bucks you can't get hurt. I have a hunch those are vending machine photos, and these days they can be collectible.

 

Just thinking idly (or idiotically) it's an odd selection of pics. The Dean and Elvis headshots are obviously professional portraits -- typical. Mineo's pic, on the other hand, looks like an amateur snapshot. Murphy, you'd expect a portrait, or maybe in military or cowboy costume in an action pose, but, what, he's in his dressing room reading fan mail or something? Peculiar...

Well, I have 8,700 -- so....

Actually, most of mine are social, with some information thrown in. Not all irrelevant fluff, but there is definitely some there.
