It's what is called a dome topped steamer trunk.
Probably dates to the late 1800s.

Looks to be in decent condition. Although you are missing the top tray. Most trunks usually are.

Wait for others to comment. People come and go all day.

clutteredcloset has pretty much nailed this. The papering on the inside was just decorative and not distinctive to a manufacturer. If there are any identifying marks, they would be on the hardware.

It actually has the top tray I just didn’t photograph it with it in it.
Yeah I couldn’t find a mark on it anywhere.... where would it usually be?

I agree with @clutteredcloset49 and @verybrad - we have my great-grandmother's and it looks almost identical! She came to the US the first time in 1893! I expect it was purchased new at the time. She traveled back and forth to the US 3 times; and finally stayed in 1930ish. Your trunk is a little "fancier" with the rivets, clasps and keyholes... but essentially the same. Hers has several divided compartments in the lid; plus a large tray on the bottom.

That’s cool! I think this one is similar age, one of the clasps says Pat 1872 which means the chest is sometime between then and 1890 from what most stuff seems to say. Not sure I’ll ever know the manufacturer but it’s cool that it’s survived in such good condition for a century and a half!

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Looks like you've got a PAT. date right here, on the lock..........which looks like JUL 9, '72
