Hello, I have these 2 old Egyptians statues most probably made of copper. The first one is 0.96 kg and is 20 cm tall. The second one is 1.6 kg and 24 cm tall. The heavier one has some Egyptians writing behind. I would like ,please ,to know if these pieces are real. And if yes what is their approximate price.

Real as in from the Ancient Egyptian 18th Dynasty or 20th century tourist items ?

We don't do valuations on here.

    thank you for your answer,
Yes real as Egyptian 18th dynasty. That's what the people who gave us the items, during the civil war when they were migrating, told us.

erm... I'd wager they are Egyptian revival items produced in the 1920s/1930s during the worldwide interest in the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, which also coincided with (an influenced) the Art Deco style.

The first 'figurine' depicts Ptah, a creator God, and the second figurine is pharaoh-onic in style, with its Royal 'Nemes' headdress and double crown signifying ruler of Upper & Lower Egypt.

I do, and without appearing to be rude, 'hearsay' is not 'provenance' particularly with antiquities. There is quite a strict doctrine with "legal" sales of ancient Egyptian artefacts, and various documents must accompany the item such as previous purchasing history or a licence from the historical department of Egypt as proof of date, description of item and permission of ownership.

    No, it never is !

It's just the way the story is presented.....sounds different than ...what we usually hear...:hungry:

Exactly. "once belonged to Lord Nelson" for example, or "pistol gun used by Col. Custer at the Battle of Little Big horn" doesn't quite cut the mustard! Neither does a printed label stuck on the back! 99% of Galle cameo glass being sold is repro too. There are more pieces of 'his' glass up for grabs than he or his factory could ever have produced in his lifetime.
