This has a few markings, even writing on the handle. Any idea on maker? And what was this used for?

That "Warning" printed on the handle (final picture) makes me think the handle, at least, is not that old.

Maker is Woodings-Verona Tool Corporation, founded in 1883.

Still in operation as Woodings Industrial Corporation, and claims to be 'the oldest continuously family-operated business in the steel industry in North America."

Oddly, just yesterday, I found the same hatchet in my 'inventory.' Thought I'd clean it up. Decided it was too crummy for Ebay and would go to the B&M shop.

My ol' man says y'all are correct!
He has an old one by Estwing. He just bought a new one, chrome! They call it a rig-builder's hatchet.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

He loves her more than his tool collection already.
That was fast work on her part.
She has a pillow in his basement man-cave.
    Widdle doggie doodle indeed.

    Hi Gila,
Rosita figures you have the parrot and poor old hubby has no one, so she went for him. My Ricky loved me and his sister just ignored me. Let the other one come home and Lucy was all over her.
It was like having a rebellous teenager. Until the end then Lucy came looking for "Mommy". God I love animals.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I do too, Gregggsie... what's that Walden quote...something about loving animals for their simplicity and life-force... and that he could stare at them forever...

    I'll find it.

Sorry for temporarily hijacking the thread folks!
