Here's an unmarked 14 1/4" Famille Rose charger-is this thing 6 months old or does it have a taste of age ?. No back stamp/chop & it doesn't look like like most of what pops up as 'Famille'.
The only thing that might ID it is the remains of a type written label w/an old typewriter font-I can't read it,can you ?
Here's a listing for a similar, but smaller piece on Ebay (Thanks all !)-

Certainly not famille rose, which has pink overtones.
The 'familles' are named after the dominant colour, so there is rose - pink, vert - green, jaune - yellow, and noir - black.

I wonder if it is European made?

Thanks for the input AJ,definitely doesn't look like any Famille Rose I could find. The only indication of age/maker is that frustrating ripped paper tag.The typewriter font is 'serif' (it has the little tails on the letters),generally used on the older print fonts.

That's an odd one. Looks like an interpretation of Chinese by a Turkish or North African influenced maker with a European tin glaze. Agree that is doesn't look very old.

I think remains of a sixties price label. I also think possibly Spanish, a Valencia maker.

Nice find. I like it a lot and defo would have bought it. It seems to have an imari influence to me in the way that the patterned areas are sectioned. Inner circle then lines radiating out to the edge (these are straight on imari but yours are wavy) then a couple of outer circles. Google says no to me also. Would be great to find out what it actually is.

Maybe the plants n fruits can give a clue to the origin.

The label could well be a red herring. It could have been applied at any time by anyone. A second hand shop or collector maybe. If so it would only tell you about the plate's journey and not it's origin..

I can't resist an intriguing mysterious artifact (esp cheap). I get a real kick out of research, many times it's the most exciting part of my journey.

The eBay one is definitely printed and the pattern looks pretty identical to yours so I would tend to leave it.

Could well be, those Valencia and Manises makers made/make just about any style.

Agree, likely vintage. Since it seems to have been made as a wall display (with holes in the back) wondering if that dates it at all?
