Old or recent? Please help me identify this porcelain

    I'd say older, Chinese of course, IMHO late 19th/early 20thc. You don't give the size but looks like a hot food container (depending on how big!)

    It is 12 cm tall, 9,5 cm wide:)

    So it's tiny. Probably not for hot food then.

    Also looks like it might be incomplete, is the base section missing?

    You know it might be something used for sauce in a dim sum place (some time back, that is!) The waitress would have sauces stacked on the cart and drop off one of these dishes with your cheung fun maybe?

    I say there is one or more pieces missing because there are four sections. Four is an extremely unlucky number in Chinese culture as the word for four is a homonym for death ..so VERY unlikely to be a four-piece thingy.
