It is pastel on a wooden panel, I don't think it is solid wood, it looks more like hardboard. I scraped the edge with my nail and looked at it with a magnifier and it seems like a composite, also there are no seams. I took it out of the frame because it had become detached. The frame and the work do not appear to be from the same time period, it had a piece of that non-glare glass. Based on the original brown framing tape I would think maybe 1st quarter of the 20th century? There are a few numbers on the the back of the picture and the cardboard of the later framing job, I think maybe stock or auction numbers. The black material on the back of the panel seems to be some type of paper. I was hoping that someone would recognize the clothing the lady is wearing, I was thinking Eastern European? I don't having any hopes of figuring out an artist, I suspect an impossible task.
