Old scabbard found in barn

Need help identifying this old scabbard I found in a barn I’m guessing it’s civil war but I’ve been wrong before, any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks

 

Hi Aaron and welcome. You mean you found the sword with the scabbard? That’s cool.. Better to take detailed photos of the complete items and give the measurements. Looks like a replica of a Viking or Anglo Saxon sword or so to me,that’s been in that barn for quite some time.. (but Im no expert and other members will know better)

thanks for the reply, sorry i was on my phone and that was the biggest image i could upload, the scabbared has brass on it so does the dagger so i figuerd it had to be ww1 or civil war idk it looked old and wanted to get info on it, it has no proof marks that i can see

 

how do you post full image it only says i can unload 1mb picture size my other pics are 2 big for normal size

 

The shape is what I think of as an artillery sword.

 

Welcome Aaron. Could you post a photo of the entire thing please? Pommels are an indication, and so is the rest for that matter.
And the size please.

What is the size?
It looks more like a dagger than a sword to me, but it could be bigger than I think. A re-enactment or theatrical dagger?

 

Looks shorter than I initially thought. Maybe a replica of a confederate artillery short sword like moreotherstuff said..

 

I can see the resemblance, but it has a different hilt (including pommel) and crosspiece:

the guard is very strange....
I'm looking away from N.america....... for now....
but it may have been pieced together.......

any marks on the sheath?

 

It has xxxxx on the sheath those are the only markings can’t find any proof markings but it’s in very bad shape
