[QUOTE="J Dagger, post: 12442335, member: 10944"]These bowls (I’ve a pair) are so elegant and beautiful but they are worn to hell. They came with an epic silver score a couple years ago. I love them but don’t know what to do with them. Based on the design I’m guessing they are pretty early. Maybe mid 19th or earlier. They have a federal look to me. I could be wrong though. The mark is a mystery to me. Hoping maybe someone knows it? Plating worn off the brass on exteriors, interiors have rough brittle verdigris up the wazoo. Finding someone else to love them may be a challenge.

I had a guy come buy a big pile of lame Silverplate from me recently. I asked if he was a scrapper. He was. Normally I’d have told him to stay home when I assumed he might be. This stuff wasn’t worth saving really though and I need to make space. I even went inside and found a few more piles of damaged and badly tarnished ugly mid century plate to sell to him. My first time ever knowingly sending something to the furnace. He was paying $4lb if anyone is curious. I sold him 20-30lbs worth of stuff I’d have a nearly impossible time getting rid of otherwise. I tried, I did try. Couldn’t let these go though. Knowing who made them and when might help me decide what to do with them next. If I had unlimited room I’d keep them without a thought.
