Old tile, sailing ship (sort of Arts & Crafts??)

Might be completely off with the Arts & Crafts reference.

Any idea of maker? Is stamped on the back and seems to have some age, but I cannot make heads or tails out of the stamp which is all but gone, so hoping maybe some recognizes the general shape.

This was still sitting around about an hour into the sale and finally decided to grab it. Edges are worn, someone has glued feet on it to make it a trivet, which obviously hurts value, but maybe that could be removed.

Any ideas on tile maker for this one? Thanks.

Nice tile. I get the arts and crafts reference but a bit garish, color-wise. No idea who made it but doubt American.

Thanks for taking a look, Brad. Agree, colors are pretty bold on this.

Looking at the photo again, it seems like the stamp (under the "No. 6") might say:

    ______ART, maybe _____c Art.

While I was thinking it might say B&M.

@Lucille.b, If I didn't know better, I'd almost swear there's a face in that large blue shape!......closed eyes, nose..........I know, probably NOT, but.......

Something fun from Dec-art at curiousclay.com:

Decorative Arts was established in 1927 and published a catalog of their designs the year after. The catalog included 116 different designs in various sizes; all tiles were decorated with decals.

Whoa, you guys are awesome! Great research here, so helpful.

Does look like a match! Thought this was such a long shot.

    Thank you.

On a quick search already found another Dec Art (different pattern) with a similar numbering to the H149 B on this one.

So far the few I've seen have all had the trivet feet on the back. Was thinking that the former owner added that to mine, but now wondering if this is mostly how individual tiles from this company were sold.

Again, thanks. Would not have gotten anywhere on my own.

Great sleuthing! Did not think this American and this is a company I was not aware of.

The colors and method on @Lucille.b 's remind me of Catalina tile, another Southern California ceramic company.

I found this image of Catalina tile factory on Catalina Island, 26 miles away :)

Not sure what they meant by decals as mine does not seem to be decals, but then saw this on another site with a Dec Art tile. Cutting and pasting from that listing:

"retains its original rubber feet in excellent condition (that's rare). Some minor flakes around the edges.. It is made from a layered screen printed process, not a decal like many others from this company."

So sounds like some were not decals, and also that most had the feet.
