Old Unsigned Painting with Intriguing Clues on the Back

Hi,

Sorry about the confusion. I bought it about 5 years ago in a general house clearance auction in Ireland. It was in a lot with a number of other pictures and was simply described as a "quantity of pictures".

In researching the painting I thought that the writing on the back "26/7/77" was a reference to a date i.e. 26th of July 1977. As it turned out Christie's had had an auction in Ireland on this date and I was hopeful my painting would appear in the catalogue. Unfortunately, it didn't and I haven't been able to get any further with my research.

 

Have you asked Christie's?

No, I haven't been in touch with Christie's yet. It's something I'm planning to do but i wanted to try and get as much information as possible first.

I can't see the list you're referring to.
