Featured old/vintage silk ? neck scarf

    Rayon is basically reconstituted ("regenerated") cotton - cotton dissolved in chemicals and then extruded through spinners. It can imitate silk, but still smells like cellulose when it is burned.
    Mercerized cotton also has a shiny, more silk-like appearance.

    ...and feels REALLY nice. Mercerized cotton is also stronger than regular cotton; at least the thread is. I've always been told rayon was wood fiber. All I know is I can wear it when I can't wear other synthetics.

    Technically, it can be made from any cellulose based material.
