Featured Old Wooden Box Sliding Lid Small Dovetails

Box stands 2 3/4" tall and measures 7 1/4" x 5". Base measures 7 3/4" x 5 1/4". Dovetails are small so I think this is older. Any idea on age and what type of wood?

 

It looks like an 1800's tea box.

Great box. Put some recipe cards inside.

 

I think 19th century but hard to say exactly how old. Built the same way for decades. Gut says prior to 1880 when things like this were more likely mass produced than hand made. Wood looks like walnut.

My first thought was a candle box, but then I saw the dividers.

 

Spice box, handmade (not necessarily by a professional) made in India anywhere between 1850-1920, the wood is sheesham. It's a very common design for spice boxes in India. It's an easy fix to make it mint again, a little glue in the open dovetails and a clamp, good as new
