    Hi everybody!

Yesterday I have bought this vase online, so I haven't received it yet.
At first I thought it was opaline glass, but later on I started doubting.

    It a supersized vase:
    45 cm heigh (17,72 inch)

With very much and a thick layer of gold. (Not sure whether this is 24kt gold or not)

It's a also "be-jewelled", I believe... Or these are just red glass balls.
It has a handpainted? portrait on it.
The seller said it was from the Jugendstil period.

    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Thank very much!

    Minus the pearls.:)
Just the profile of the face.

It's really the gold that made me think about Moser.
And then I started doubting whether it's opaline glass or not

That's a pity. But it is still a nice, elegant vase.

Did you buy it through Marktplaats? Can you negotiate with the seller?

Yes I did, but I'm affraid they won't take it back.
Plus, I also have to know for sure that it's not antique first.

    Good point.
Officially, even people selling through Marktplaats have to comply with EU law regarding misrepresentation and returning, but it is usually difficult to make a case.
If they are professional sellers, you can bring that law to their attention. If it is new, sold as antique, and they won't take it back, you can report them.
There is info on the Marktplaats site, and this is a useful police webpage:

The style is neo classical. Those faces were also used by companies like Beardsmore who made porcelain and bone china in the 19th C. She's a transfer, which is fine, the enamelling is excellent and the applied cabochon glass jewels are good, too. I'd call it milk glass and I can't see anything to suggest it isn't late 19th, other than the excellent condition. Cased milk glass was used then.

cluttered, I get what you're saying, but this is a very different style and technique.

I have made some new pictures, where the glass being cased is more visible.

It is a very lovely vase.

I hate to disagree with Owned, but after looking at the new pictures, I still think this is later, mid-1900s.
However, I don't have this in hand, am only judging on pictures. I have been known to be wrong.
