    Hi everyone,

I've got another gem. Bought it at an auction house.
Severely cleaned it, and here it is!

It's an opaline glass holophane lamp.
2-toned. I think it has brass mounts.
    It's quite large as well.

It's just that I'm not sure how to date it.

I found many holophane lamps, opaline glass or not,
from France and Germany. Most from 1910-1925.

But I couldn't find any similar lamps. Either in shape,
    or in the mounts.

    Closest I got was this:

No, I haven't polished anything. I've thoroughly cleaned the glass on the in- and outside.

Holophane is a trademarked name for the glass. Is this marked Holophane? Otherwise, it is not what I think of when I hear mention of a Holophane shade.

I think the date range you have sounds good.

Yes, I know what you mean. You mean the ribbed holophane glass. But it seems they call this holophane lamp as well. When it has a hinged lid with a glass bottom.
You probably know what I mean :p

I have also mailed some antique lamp sellers,
    amongst others, mailed ashbyinteriors.co.uk.
    They just mailed me back.

They say it's French, early 20th century, probably1920's.

Guess I have my answer there.
I though it could perhaps be German.

And verybrad is right, not Holophane; anyone using that term for a lamp like this is using it incorrectly.
