Stunning piece! I haven't read through everyone's comments but thought I'd offer my thoughts... I like your second attempt better than the first, it was a good idea to lose the clock. I miss the flowers in the big clear glass thingie, they need to come back. I like that you moved it to the center of a shelf, I was going to suggest that. I think the ends (sides) of each shelf should have matching pieces... How about moving the green glass pair to each end of the middle shelf? Can you find something else blue to go with the blue glass pitcher on the top shelf? Perhaps the part-jasperware vase shown? That way, you'd have a blue grouping on one side of that shelf and a pink grouping on the other. The plate on it's little stand seems a bit dwarfed by the scale of the piece and, if kept, IMHO it should not be pulled forward. Everything should be kept to the back. How about moving the brass thing to the center of the bottom shelf... and the plate -plus another one- on either side of the big glass bowl (hopefully holding the flowers) on the middle shelf? I would then put the skinny candlesticks on either side of the brass thing on the bottom shelf... but group them with like together, not one of each pair on each side. And I'd put appropriate candles in these candlesticks. This is fun! A couple years ago, I got a new bookcase set. It took me three days to arrange it to my liking.
