    I bought this watercolour today.
There is the faintest of pencil signatures on the reverse.

I can’t find any known orientalist artist that it might be. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

It was probably someone who visited Turkey or the Ottoman Middle East, that striped silk entari (overdress) looks Turkish.

Agree, that looks Turkish to me as well, the vessel she is holding is typical of the region as well.

Looks as if the stopper is topped with a crescent moon.

Yes, it is. A symbol used in all Islamic countries, and probably an indication of the sitter's religion. Which rules out the Ottoman Jewish, Greek and Armenian populations, as well as a few others.
