Hi folks, I’m in search for some assistance and any help will be appreciated.

I found this miniature (14.5 inches tall, 40 inches long)partition with what looks to be Asian cartoon style paint on wood with lacquer. I’m not even sure if partition is an apt description. Anyone know any info on this piece?

Edit: there are no signatures or writing to point to any kind of search.

Although the Mughal Empire covered the Indian subcontinent, the culture and origin were Persian, not Indian.

See here for more detail on the Mughal Empire than you probably wanted to know.

    Welcome to the forum, Ron.
Your pretty screen is Persian, and as Johnny said, not very old.
As Bakers pointed out, the Mughal culture was Persian, which is why post-Mughal Indo-Persian art looks very similar to art from Persia proper.

It can be confusing, especially when it is more like folk art, like your screen. One way to tell the difference is that Indo-Persian Mughals on thrones wore a lot of jewellery. Your throned ruler doesn't.
Another way is to see if there are any women in the scene, and look at their dress. I managed to spot one dancing girl, and she is wearing Persian dress.
The girl is the little figure on the lower left:

Jmho. Another point of change from the original mughal and persian styles are the islamic PC in countries like Pakistan. That touches women hardest. Not only in art.
