The next step would be to use something like Greased Lightning or 409. I would spray a paper towel liberally &amp; let the vase set on the towel for an hour or so. I have also had good luck using Simichrome silver polish on spots like this. I put it on with a q-tip a little at a time. It is really wonderful for removing the little rust marks left on dishes from the dishwasher &amp; utensil marks left on plates.
